Should Teachers Carry Guns?

Yes.
Okay no I was kidding; perhaps if we were living in America the answer would be different. That’s the problem though, when tragic events happen, we as people go into defense mode and think that more usage of guns is the answer. We see this constantly throughout the United States, and their obsession with guns. A prime example of this would be Michael Moore’s documentary called “Bowling for Columbine”. Where Moore interviews typical Americans who they themselves have guns accessible in their house. It’s ridiculous how comfortable some people are with weapons. When talking about “should teachers carry guns”, the answer is clear. Absolutely not! There is far more danger that can happen if each teacher in the school has access to a gun. If it is security that people are looking for, a solution to that could be metal detectors at the front of the school. As well as having a panic button located in a safe spot somewhere in the classroom, that puts the school in lock down  When activated, the classroom doors will automatically shut with deadbolt lock. Not allowing entry from the outside until deactivated. This security measure will keep students, staff, and teachers safe while school is in session. We don’t need to have teacher’s carrying weapons to protect their class, this only allows for my opportunity for issues to arise. Problems such as students finding it and it accidentally going off, students deliberately stealing the weapon, a ton of issues come to mind when the thought of a teacher having a weapon in their classroom. This should never be tolerated and hopefully we will never have to deal with this issue.
